Browse and Darby is delighted to announce Robert Dukes’ fifth one-man show with the gallery.
Dukes trained at Grimsby School of Art from 1981-84 and the Slade School of Art from 1984-88 where he was taught by such luminaries as Euan Uglow and Patrick George. Dukes assimilated their influence whilst developing his own personal language; critic Andrew Lambirth has described his work as “full of life and vigour even though subjected to strict procedural disciplines”.
In this forthcoming exhibition the artist will show still-lifes which combine sensitivity of touch with a sensuous use of colour, as well as transcriptions of the art of the past and the occasional portrait of his beloved miniature dachshund, Miss Marple.
