Browse & Darby is delighted to announce our first exhibition of photographs by British photographers Harriet Challis and James Lindsay.
Harriet Challis

I am a London-based Fine Art photographer. Self-taught, through continual practice I have honed my technical skills whilst also developing a keen eye for colour, drama and opportunity.

Portrait photography is my absolute passion, but my curiosity extends to every genre. No matter the subject, the approach is the same; through compositional, environmental and in-camera techniques, I try hard to imbue my photographs with intention, beauty and soul.

My work has earned significant recognition having been shortlisted for Portrait of Britain (2025), the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize (2025, 2024) and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2025)

I mostly use analogue systems, but not exclusively so.

James Lindsay

I am a travel photographer based in Oxfordshire. I have travelled to over 60 countries on 6 continents. I have forever been a traveller, adventure and experience junkie.

When I was 18, I crossed the USA on a Greyhound bus, worked in Australia and then travelled back through Asia. In 1986 I drove from London to Cape Town, and the following year crossed the Sahara Desert on a dune buggy. Since then, I have been on numerous expeditions to Borneo, Papua New Guinea and other parts of SE Asia, Africa and India as well as driving in vintage car rallies through Argentina, Italy, France and Mexico.

For some years I produced and acted as stills photographer for documentaries in India and Africa for National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel. My 18 years as Trustee for the charity “Tusk” took me on regular fact-finding trips throughout the African continent.

I have spent much of my life photographing wildlife and nature. However, recently I was drawn back to India where I focused on street photography. In March 2019 I put on a sell-out exhibition of images drawn from my time in Calcutta, Delhi and Bombay.

This exhibition will included pictures from India, Africa, Turkey, Thailand. Italy and the UK. My goal is to share my insight of the places I visit, capturing the people who inhabit them and catching the soul of the cultures with whom I come into contact.
