Browse & Darby is delighted to announce an exhibition of recent work by Anthony Eyton RA. This landmark exhibition celebrates the expressive brushwork and keen observations of one of Britain’s most enduring figurative painters.
Following his Centenary Exhibition at Browse & Darby in 2023, Eyton has formed a new body of work centred around still-life. Painted in the light-filled rooms of his Victorian townhouse and studio in Brixton, London, flowers in jars, ripe fruit, toy elephants, and personal objects are depicted with spontaneity and affection. Eyton captures both the presence of the objects, and their emotional resonance. These paintings are deeply entrenched in the artist’s everyday life, with recurring motifs possessing a rich familiarity. Also presented are vibrant depictions of Eyton’s semi-wild garden located just beyond the studio door, an urban oasis that has long served as a muse for the artist.
