Browse & Darby is delighted to announce our upcoming exhibition of works by Ed Gilbert.
This exhibition explores the seasons - across landscape, fruit and flowers. Temporis showcases Gilbert's changing vision of the world around him, from the fleeting bloom of the Magnolia tree, to the ripe opulence of fresh peaches. Inspired by the hills around his home in Wiltshire, the landscapes of his pictures change seasonally, with special attention paid to the dulcet reds and browns of autumn turning, and the vibrant greens and yellows of spring.
In his still-lifes, there is more opportunity for colour not always found in nature - a plate of candy pink ice cream with a pink gingham napkin, or a dish of juicy figs above a bright green striped tablecloth.
All works are reminiscent of a moment in time captured, whether the changing colours of a tree in winter, or the momentary perfection of a perfectly ripe piece of fruit.
